Mini Review:
What's the point?

This is the question that I ask myself when I finished watching the movie. There's lots of cool stuffs going around in this movie: the elaborate and eye-popping special effects and set design on the planets and the spaceships as well as cool action sequences and even a fine action star performance from Diesel. Unfortunately, it has a very self-important sci-fi epic wannabe story that is just unbelieavably boring and derivative. Yawn

Early in the production, this movie was planned as a 3-part trilogy. It was compared with the LOTR trilogy with Pitch Black as "the hobbit"-esque prequel. While I am not a big fan of the LOTR trilogy, this plan just show how much wannabe this franchise is like. Let's hope such thing won't happen.

Rating: 2 out of 5

Simply Riddick-ulous
